Hello there

I’m Jeanetta. As an artist and blogger I find inspiration in nature and nostalgia. My paintings and illustrations grow out of a love of my garden and the natural beauty around me combined with a compulsive habit of collecting old and abandoned items. I believe that some of our strongest feelings are stirred by the awe of nature and the connection to our past.

Way back before Christmas I had a client that I’

Way back before Christmas I had a client that I’ve worked with many times for pet portraits reach out for an idea for a new commission. Surprisingly this wasn’t a pet portrait and he now lives on the east coast and he wanted it big! With a lot of attention given to the crepe myrtle in front of the old house. This one would be a Christmas present for his partner.

This story is not so much a lesson in creating the art but getting the art to the client. It’s a lesson in packaging and shipping and trying to not curse the universe and the postal system when the first attempt at delivery didn’t work and it was returned to me. Thankfully my client was super chill and understanding. It would be a late Christmas gift. The second attempt at delivery was almost thwarted. But with a lot of phone calls and proof of signature confirmation and pleading with them not to send the package back to me as the text message threatened, he was able to pick up the painting.

Every art needs a story right.

The last pic is their collection of pet portraits, with two of their dogs. I love getting pictures of my art in people’s homes and I cherish the clients who have returned to me time and again to create special pieces for them. Thank you to you all.

Thanks to your amazing support over the last two art walks and the gallery I’ve got to make some more miniature paintings! I enjoyed the mural. It was something different and new but I’m a creature of habit and love getting back to my miniature masterpieces. I’m going to declare next month to be the Maximus of Minis in May! There won’t be an art walk here in Conway because it coincides with a large local festival weekend downtown. But the @centralarcollective gallery will be open and I plan to have a Maximus of Minis (imagine that with a booming echo voice) on display.

Is a solar eclipse just Artemis and Apollo arguing in the sky? As a mother of sons and daughters I understand the chaos of this dynamic and the sibling rivalry that can arise from time to time.

“Sisters & Brothers”

Apollo: “Get out of the way!”
Artemis: “You get out of the way!”
Apollo: “NO! I was here first!”
Artemis: “Exactly why I’m the one who’s supposed to be here now! MOVE!”

In Greek mythology the goddess Leto gave birth to twins Apollo and Artemis under the shelter of a cypress tree. Cypress branches build the foundation of this jumbled messy still life. Apollo: sun, lyre harp, cicadas,laurel wreath. Artemis: moon, bow & arrow, amaranth, antlers.
