oooh la la

when we did christmas early with my sister back a couple of weeks ago it really was earlier than we had originally planned. there was a funeral that she and her husband had to come to arkansas for so they had to come the weekend before to do christmas and needless to say i didn’t have their gifts ready.

i quickly made the sign with their last name so that they wold have something from me but i was planning on an apron for my sis. instead she got an apron IOU. and told her to come over while she was in town and she could pick out from my stash exactly what she wanted.

wouldn’t you know it that she would pick out one of my brand new fabrics i had just ordered off of ebay and with the shipping and all came out to $10 a yard. that’s splurging for me. it was a micheal miller print called springtime in paris. and she wanted a full apron. which i had never done before. yes i know there are tons of patterns out there for them. but i don’t do so well with patterns. some how it makes more sense in my head when i have come up with it my self.

well here is the finished aprons. and i was quite proud of it. it had black satin straps and ties on it which i thought picked up the black outlining of the print. and the pocket is embellished with a drawing of the eiffel tower i had done that i printed out on fabric and stitched tot he pocket. my usual frayed edges too.

i finally got it and 2 other name signs that they had ordered from me as gifts sent off on fri. i really hope she likes it because i was really proud of how it turned out.

  1. i sew the same way you do. in my head…no patterns. it’s too disappointing when you mess up from a pattern. if it’s your own idea then who’s to say it’s wrong?i am busy sewing aprons too. 3 down and 3 to go. i came over from mabel’s house. your site is very sweet. fun stuff to see.-meg
